Would you be happier if you were off of Facebook? This Dutch nonprofit initiative has created a website, 99 days of freedom, and is asking people to try their own experiment. My own kids left FB years ago. On their own. They felt like the fights, the gossip and the drama was not worth it. All three of them say they are quite happy to not be on Facebook. Most of their friends are not on anymore either. The young people who still use it, tell me it for family and to keep in touch with their grandparents and family. In many ways, Facebook owns you. When you clicked that little TOS box, (terms of service), you agreed to let Facebook use your content and photos. Now they have done something that I feel is ethically wrong. You and your friends, and followers may of been part of an experiment conducted by manipulating your feeds. Facebook manipulated over 683,000 of it’s users feeds to see how people reacted to either positive or negative posts from their friends. Conducting secret psychology experiment on users’ emotions. Do you use Twitter? Sometimes fun things do happen.

Twitter. Ah twitter. Say it all in a #hash tag in under a 130 characters. But say what? And say it to whom? I am still not sure what I am suppose to do with twitter. I feel like a small fish in a very big sea. Sometimes though a fun thing happens, and you realize maybe the world is not so big and vast when it comes to people touching other people. I love Masterchef Australia, and then I started watching Masterchef UK season 9, and I just finished it last night. It was quite enjoyable. The cooking was amazing. Will twitter die? Is twitter dying? What do you think? Who is really using Twitter today? When Twitter started, I seriously thought it would never catch on, ( but I also thought DVD players would not replace VHS, so I definitely can miss the boat big time.) Now wherever you go, any conference, any “Internet Marketing” type of gathering, you are told to use twitter and other “social media”. I even signed up and have been using Tweetdeck, since Tee Morris taught a class with me at the San Francisco Writers Conference on Social Media. (Update: Tweetdeck was absorbed by Twitter and they run a different program and interface with it now). Google plus is DEAD. I have been working online since 1998 and I am here to tell you, Google needs to stop trying to be a social networking site. So many attempts and so many failures. This entire article I wrote is now defunk. It is is still good for just setting up a google ID, but that it is it. 1. Get a Google account. Click here to start a Google account. 2. Set up a Google Profile. Click here to set up your Google Profile. 3. Set up the Google Plus 1 button on your website. ( Never mind this, Google Plus is dead).
